It’s A Snap

With The New York Comedy Festival is in full swing, you might be a little bummed that you couldn’t get tickets. Don’t worry, Bel Air has found, along with the rest of the world, that the easiest and most accessible way to laugh these days is to go on Snapchat. With Facebook filling up with adds, giffs, and baby pics, Snapchat’s short video’s have bred a new form of comedy. While stand-up comedians have the chance to set up a joke with a long monologue beforehand, Snapchatters have to find a way of being funny in just 10-second bursts. The app’s short life span is also attractive for those beginning to craft their style of humor. Since a Snapchat doesn’t live on forever, comedians can take bigger risks with their jokes, without having to worry about their children pulling it on the web years later. While it’s still early to pronounce the end of stand-up, now we can look to our phones for some “serious” comedy.
